Brandee Anderson is a second-generation professional bra fitter. She is well-versed in the world of bras and breasts.

In 2004 - when she was eight months pregnant - she filmed a segment on bra fitting for morning television. At the end of the segment Brandee was invited to come back in a couple of months to give her nursing bra recommendations. She never went back...

As a nursing mother and a breastfeeding counselor, she found little to recommend in the world of nursing bras.

There were basically two options:

Pretty but ineffective: Thin straps, weakly elasticized fabric that didn't wear well, cup openings that compressed breast tissue, 1/2 cups and 3/4 cups incapable of containment, and unrealistic sizing.

Or

Downright frumpy: industrial-strength fabric with industrial-strength esthetics.

Then there is the worst of both worlds – the glorified sports bra. "Women have beautiful breasts when they are breastfeeding." says Anderson. "Not only does the sports bra design NOT provide the support women need, but it also tends to give nursing mothers an unflattering 'uni-boob' look."

"I believe that breastfeeding mothers deserve better," proclaims Anderson. "Our breasts have an incredibly important job to do. They need the right tools."
